Vancouver, BC – Junwoo Ha, a 10th-grade student at St. George’s School, delivered a moving tribute performance at the U.S. Comfort Women Memorial following his notable performance at Carnegie Hall. The event was organized to honor women who suffered during World War II and to ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.
Originally from Korea, Justin Ha has had a deep interest in history since childhood. “Back in Korea, I learned a lot about Korean history through historical graphic novels,” he said. After immigrating to Canada, he broadened his perspective by understanding various historical events. “Living in Canada, I learned about the events that shaped this country. Particularly, I developed a keen interest in major international events like World War II, which naturally led me to appreciate the complex relationship between the World Wars and the Korean War,” he explained.
For Justin Ha, studying history goes beyond memorizing facts. “I see it as uncovering the intertwined threads that make up global history,” he revealed. His passion to understand these connections led him to honor the memory of comfort women, viewing their roles within the broader context of world history.
The tribute performance was more than a gesture of remembrance; it aimed to educate and raise awareness about wartime history.
